"You're from
Half Moon Bay?
I LOVE it there - it's
so gorgeous!"
We've all heard that from everyone we meet. We need to keep that vibe. Bottom line, what we have here is very simple: The desire of one developer to build a 102 room hotel and up to 16 townhomes, versus the character, appeal, appearance, and functioning of our town. This affects 13,000 City residents, the 28,000 people who live on the coastside, and the 3 million people who visit our town every year specifically to experience its scenic beauty.

BREAKING NEWS: May 8, 2025
With a 5 to 4 vote Coastal Commission voted to find "Substantial Issue" in our Appeal of the Hyatt project. This means they overturned the City Council approval of the Hyatt, and Coastal Commission is now in charge of the project. There will be future hearings to finalize what happens next, but this is a major victory. Thank you to all who spoke, wrote, and stayed engaged for the past 9 years. There will be need for more public input, but this is a huge step forward.
